Albanian photographer Enri Canaj, who has created art pieces representing immigrants and war victims in Europe since 2013, lives and works in Greece, where he migrated in 1991. As a member of the Magnum Photos team, Canaj primarily focuses on immigrant women and children. Canaj, who depicts religious oppression, gender-based discrimination, and the challenges minorities face, utilizes the black&white technique to dramatize his shots. Exploring issues not often mentioned in daily life, such as poverty, homelessness, and nomadic life in Europe due to wars, Canaj exposes old problems that still exist in modern Europe and carries out works that provoke awareness.

“Say Goodbye Before You Leave,” which provides selections from the book of the same name, represents the difficulties people who want to continue their lives uninterrupted go through when forced to change their habitats. Although Canaj glimpses his own past with these selections, he describes these works as representing multiple stories of salvation.
