OUR DEAREST FRIENDS, ANIMALS

Animals, symbolized as the expression of human emotions in different art fields, are among the leading subjects of photography with the forms of communication they establish in their own habitats.

They are the protagonists in Our Dear Friends, Animals exhibition. Their dreamy visual world comes to life in unique frames from the perspective of nearly 20 artists with the motivation of togetherness. We witness the inner world of these small domesticated predators through the eyes of Walter Chandoha, the pioneer of cat photography. Tim Flach, whom we hosted with his remarkable horse photographs in the 2021 edition of 212 Photography Istanbul, is also a part of this exhibition. The artist examines animals across a broad spectrum of species and amazes us with the complexity of their world. Besides, he makes us question ways to strengthen our ties with nature. Martin Parr, who brings charm, criticism, and humor together in his propaganda images, and Helene van Meene, whose famous young women portraits are in many museum collections including Guggenheim New York and MoMA, are also among the artists that bring them together with the audience from their own perspectives.
