Eugenio Recuenco
As a creative figure in the international arena who has photographed for Vogue, Vanity Fair and GQ and worked with global brands such as Saint Laurent and Loewe, Eugenio Recuenco played a key role in the aesthetic evolution of artistic and advertising photography during the 2000s for which he received the Golden Lion Award at Cannes in advertisement photography.
Known for his large-scale cinematographic photographs of dreamy, fantastic compositions, Recuenco’s most recent 365° series is a comprehensive project carried out over an eight-year period with 120 models and a team of 300 people. In our dizzying day and age, where distances are shorter and time seems to move faster, Recuenco shapes his frame with emotions to reveal artistic and cultural codes, stories of humanity, and historic figures. Seeking creativity in captivity, Rucuenco prefers to limit himself in his new series by using a fixed camera position and stage design. In a room missing its fourth wall, the artist brings to life his grotesque dreams. The missing wall is also a trick to lure the audience into his cell to play a game of “escaping” a claustrophobic space.
