Exploring the Sounds of the City with Collective Mapping
Personal experiences sustain the city as a living organism. The city comes alive with sounds, images, and associations. But can an alternative story of Istanbul be created using visual memory and sounds? Under the guidance of Arek Qadrra and Berka Beste Kopuz, an interactive workshop in the Pera district will create a collective map of Istanbul from personal experiences. During the workshop, participants will receive various cards and be assigned exploration tasks. The workshop explores the connections participants make with the city using tools such as sound, photography, and drawing. The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness and foster sharing about city life, individual identity, and community through a large map that each participant contributes to.
