Floriane de Lassée
Floriane de Lassée is a Parisian photographer who creates her art in different parts of the world. She went to Paris Penninghen Art School and New York International Photography Center before focusing on social themes from different geographies. Travelling thousands of kilometres to dig deep into different cultures, Lassée has one familiar destination: the invariability of urban loneliness. She successfully captures the tension between sprawling megacities and the lonely people that inhabit them. She ultimately points her lens to people, especially the women who struggle to exist in a world of inequalities. The artist thoroughly investigates the burden of gender experienced by women in almost all of her projects. For the Inside Views and Half the Sky series, the artist travelled the planet’s megacities stretching from Las Vegas to Tokyo, New York to Shanghai and Istanbul. A selection of photographs from both series shows us Istanbul from the opposite perspective.
