Known for her work on women’s participation in politics, academician and writer Prof. Dr. Serpil Çakır, discusses the position of women in social life in the early periods of the Turkish Republic at Taksim Sanat, the venue of the We Ran Into Each Other exhibition. Moderated by Zeynep Ayta from the 212 Photography Istanbul team, the talk will be about the developments in women’s rights between 1923 and 1945, the role of womens’ movements in these improvements, the pioneering women we know and those we are not familiar with. How women’s struggle connects from past to present and how we unite in the search for rights will be explored.
