Pascal Gaudefroy / Litote & Hyperbole

Multidisciplinary artist Pascal Gaudefroy takes his practice to the city’s streets as he explores the concepts of coincidence and transience. For this edition of the festival, his multifaceted ‘Litote & Hyperbole’ video installation will be displayed at the offices of 212 Photography Istanbul. This marks the first time the 212 offices will host an exhibition since the festival’s inception seven years ago. Gaudefroy’s installation delves into the unexpected moments that shape our understanding, offering a unique narrative that blurs the lines between the planned and the spontaneous.

Pascal Gaudefroy has been living in the Côtes d’Armor region for many years. He finds inspiration in the northern landscapes of France and projects large-scale images on natural attractions, seamlessly transforming public spaces into temporary galleries. Gaudefroy’s work is deeply rooted in the concept of time, questioning history through portraits. His portraits, as if stuck in an endless loop, represent immutability on large, multilayered collages. Pondering the concept of ‘movement’, Gaudefroy uses it both with the flow in the image and with everyday actuality. With ‘Litote & Hyperbole’, the artist points to the paradox of time suspended in linear evolution. The stasis in motion in the loop of portrait videos opens a meditative space in time that lures in the viewer. This meditative quality invites contemplation on the nature of time and existence, a unique experience between the transient and the eternal.
