Institut Français Türkiye, as part of the 212 Photography Istanbul Festival, presents a carefully curated selection of contemporary and timeless French films that enter into a vivid dialogue with this year’s key themes: transformation, change, light, structure, and architecture.

Karsh, devastated by the loss of his wife, invents GraveTech—a controversial technology that allows the living to observe their deceased loved ones in their shrouds. But when several graves, including that of his wife, are vandalised, Karsh is pulled into a spiral of suspicion and an ominous conspiracy. Inspired in part by Cronenberg’s own experiences with grief, The Shrouds probes the endlessness of mourning and the paranoia of a hyper-connected world.
