Gazhane Museum
Visiting Hours: Tue - Sun: 10:00 - 18:00
Located in Hasanpaşa, Gazhane Museum was built in the late 19th century as a coal gas production plant to meet Istanbul’s lighting needs. As a striking example of industrial heritage, the complex underwent an extensive restoration after years of disuse and was transformed into a cultural and artistic hub. Its brick façades, steel beams, and expansive industrial volumes carry the functional aesthetics of its past into the present.
Since its reopening, Gazhane Museum has hosted contemporary art exhibitions, theatre performances, concerts, workshops, and children’s activities, establishing itself as one of Istanbul’s key cultural landmarks. The diversity of its open-air and indoor spaces offers a setting where historical atmosphere and creative production coexist.
