Istanbul-based drummer and composer Danae Palaka brings contemporary jazz, krautrock, and electronic music together with rhythms rooted in Anatolian, Balkan, and Afrobeat traditions. Born in Athens into a musical family with ties to Istanbul, Palaka moved to the city to reconnect with its cultural heritage and her own roots. Her debut album Velox, released in 2024 via A.F.O.M. INT., builds an immersive sonic world through intricate rhythms, dreamlike textures, and the interplay between drums and analogue synthesizers.
