Bringing together Gürsoytrak's recent works, Velhasıl presents a selection that addresses representations of institutional structure imagery and the hierarchical order between these structures within the framework of the Koram Principle. The Koram Principle, which expresses the hierarchical arrangement of elements within a whole in architecture and design, is reconsidered in Gürsoytrak's works through absurd images taken from everyday life.
The artist draws from a wide imagistic scale—from side streets where he gets lost to intercity journeys; from accumulated photographs of moments that made news on the inner pages of newspapers, to the gaudy objects of Culture Industry visuals, to the spaces of desires created by torn and tattered packaging. He produces pentür/painted objects where these images are mischievously blended with academic painting conventions and vernacular visualities, containing ironic perspectives and interpretations of modern life contradictions.
