Distant Lands, Generations, Gazes which looks at the world through the lenses of three generations, tells the story of a Bursalı industrialist family’s passion for travelling the world and discovering different geographies, passed down from generation to generation through photography and transformed into a quiet legacy. The thousands of photographs taken by Nuri Z. Erbak (1914), Mehmet H. Erbak (1950), and Ceylin Erbak Aytekin (1988), spanning 96 years and reaching the present day, bring together not only three distinct perspectives, but also traces of a world changing across generations. “Distant Places, Generations, Gazes” leaves viewers with a question: Is it the photographs inherited from one generation to the next, the memories, or an inner intuition about what is worth looking at?
