Humanity & Borders confronts viewers with the quiet yet forceful presence of borders. Inspired by Ecem Dilan Köse’s visit to the line dividing North and South Korea—where sky, water and vegetation remain seamless while humans alone are stopped by fences, the installation contrasts nature’s continuity with the artificiality of human-imposed boundaries. Presented within a church, it transforms a physical demarcation into a metaphorical threshold, quietly questioning whether borders are natural or learned.
Born in 1994 and based in Istanbul, Köse works across video, performance, and installation, exploring the interplay between body, space, memory, and social constructs. Her practice seeks to create permeable zones between personal memory and collective perception, offering audiences reflective encounters. Her work has been shown in exhibitions and events across Turkey and Europe, engaging viewers in poetic visual dialogues.
