Metonia

Hakan Gürbüzer
Metanoia brings together Hakan Gürbüzer’s exploration of cultural memory, individual existence, and social disconnection in contemporary society. His compositions combine seemingly random yet intricately assembled details, forming mosaics of personal conflicts, memories, and reckonings drawn from different periods of the artist’s life.
Often centered on a single figure, the works establish a direct connection with the viewer through the subject’s gaze. Proud yet pensive, these protagonists carry a sense of anguish and introspection, reflecting the existential tension of confronting one’s past, present, and future selves. Through these encounters, Metanoia explores transformation, memory, and the shifting relationship between the individual and the world around them.
